Blessing of Holy Myron

Saturday 10 March 2012: His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, the Father and Head of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church blessed the Holy Myron for the entire Church at St. Mary's Cathedral, Pattom, Trivandrum. The blessing ceremony started at 3pm. on Friday, 9 March. The Second Part of the ceremony began at 6.30am. on Saturday, 10 March 2012. His Grace Most Rev. Thomas Mar Koorilos, His Excellencies Most Rev. Dr. Most Rev. Geevarghese Mar Divannasios, Most Rev. Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom, Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas, Most Rev. Abraham Mar Julios, Most Rev. Dr. Vincent Mar Paulos, Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Most Rev. Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas OIC, Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Anthonios OIC, Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Mar Irenios and Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Stephanos concelebrated in the solemn blessing. It concluded with the Holy Qurbono. Many Rev. Priests, religious, seminarians and faithful were present.

Cardinal Oswald Gracias re-elected CBCI president

Bangalore: Cardinal Oswald Gracias was re-elected as president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) at its ongoing 30th Plenary Assembly in Bangalore. As an affirmation of his sterling leadership qualities, Cardinal Gracias, who is also the Archbishop of Bombay, was given a further two-year term, said CBCI spokesman Father Babu Joseph. Major Archbishop Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Church has also been re-elected as vice president. Archbishop Mar George Valiamattam of Tellicherry Archdiocese, representing the Syro-Malabar Church, has been elected as second vice president. CBCI secretary general Albert D’ Souza, Archbishop of Agra retains his post. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India is made up of the Latin, Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara Churches
